2017 CSA Week 2

by danberube on July 9, 2017

Hello Farm Friends!

It was good to see so many of you over the last few days, especially since we have so many new members this summer. I hope you have started to enjoy your week 1 share.

Although the cool spring has set many crops back 2-3 weeks, we are starting to see some good signs on some summer crops. The winter squash is moving along nicely, and our tomatillo plants are tall, and already putting on fruit. The tomato plants are in need of constant pruning (that means they are growing quickly) and are starting to flower. It’ll still be a few more weeks until we see any tomatoes, so please be patient.

I do expect we will have a new crop or two this week. One that you are very likely to see is Swiss Chard, which is a very tasty green, especially when sauteed with other items in our share such as garlic scapes. Zucchini looks close, but they have yet to starting putting on size yet. We’ll just have to wait and watch to see what nature brings our way.

Enjoy, and see you at the farm!

What We’re Growing
