2017 CSA Week 4

by danberube on July 23, 2017

Hello Farm Friends!

It’s week 4, and we’re on the verge of having more summer crops available in the share. We’ve seen some excellent growth in the field this past week, and we’re close to seeing peppers, cucumbers, and a greater variety and quantity of summer squashes. Cherry tomatoes are also starting to set, and garlic cloves are being cured for the week 5 share.

One particular summer squash I’d like to highlight this week is the patty pan. If you’ve been following the Berube Farm Facebook page or instagram, you’ve see this one posted with the caption “Flying Saucer.” This little UFO-looking squash can be eaten raw, steamed, or grilled and has a sweet taste. You won’t often see patty pan squash in grocery stores, so it is great we can highlight this excellent-tasting, unique-looking variation on zucchini.

See you at the farm!

Here is a list of what we are expecting to harvest this week. Please keep in mind this list is subject to change based on crop conditions.

Lookin’ Good
Red Russian Kale
Garlic Chives
Patty Pan Squash

Fingers Crossed
Swiss Chard
Bell Peppers
Hot Peppers
